Former Algeria coach Rabah Saâdane has compared the Algeria international Anis Hadj Moussa‘s playing style to Riyad Mahrez, praising his technical ability, creativity and quality in front of goal and tipped him for a move to one of Europe’s leading leagues following his impressive start to the season with Feyenoord.
“He reminds me a bit of Riyad Mahrez: a technical left-footer playing on the right flank, capable of scoring and creating goals,” Saâdane told Africafoot.
Former Algeria assistant coach Nabil Neghiz also highlighted Hadj Moussa’s dribbling and vision but believes he can improve his movement off the ball and effectiveness in physical duels.
The winger’s performances have attracted interest from several European clubs, with Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Marseille, Porto and Borussia Dortmund previously linked with him.
According to Africafoot, Saudi side Al-Ittihad also attempted to sign him during the summer, but the proposed move collapsed over concerns about the financial guarantees offered.
Feyenoord are reportedly seeking between €35m and €40m for the Algeria international, whose contract runs until June 2030.
Former Algeria international Chérif Oudjani believes Hadj Moussa is ready to test himself in one of Europe’s five major leagues rather than move to Saudi Arabia.
However, Neghiz and Saâdane both believe remaining at Feyenoord until the end of the season would be the better option, with a potential summer transfer offering a more suitable opportunity.
Hadj Moussa will now look to maintain his form and strengthen his position as one of the most sought-after Algerian talents in European football.
