Nigeria striker Kelechi Iheanacho has refused to discuss his future at Bursaspor after extending his scoring streak and setting new records in Turkish football.
The 29-year-old scored in Monday’s 2-0 win over Pendikspor, taking his season tally to 15 goals and extending his run of consecutive scoring appearances to 11.
Iheanacho has become the first Bursaspor player to score in nine successive matches, surpassing the previous club record of eight set by Fernandao in the 2014-15 season.
He has also set a Turkish league record by scoring in 10 consecutive matches, surpassing the previous mark of nine achieved by Metin Oktay and Saffet Sancaklı.
Despite speculation about a possible move during the January transfer window, Iheanacho says his focus remains on Bursaspor’s promotion push.
“Right now, we are living in the moment, so we have to enjoy it and make the most of it by continuing to play, win and score goals,” he told Spor Bursa.
The former Leicester City and Manchester City forward said he was proud to enter the record books and hopes to maintain his form.
“It is not easy. I am happy and proud to be in the record book, and hopefully there will be more goals to come from me and the team,” he added.
